Hello! My name is Jennifer Park, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam home. Nestled along the lush riverbanks, my community reflects the rich cultural tapestry of Guyana, where the influences of our Indian heritage blend seamlessly with the traditions of the Indigenous peoples and Afro-Guyanese cultures. As a resident of Coast 48 Sheriff Street, I am always in awe of the natural beauty surrounding us. The Akawini River and Karawab Creek hold a special place in my heart, serving as reminders of the stunning landscapes that define our homeland. Many of my fondest memories are spent exploring these waterways, whether fishing with friends or simply basking in the tranquility of nature. Our connection to the land and rivers is deep-rooted, and I cherish the stories and history that flow through them.
Though I now navigate life in the diaspora, I carry with me the spirit of Guyana wherever I go. I actively engage with our community, celebrating our rich history and advocating for the representation of Guyanese culture abroad. In a world where questions often arise about our identity, I stand proud to share that Guyana is not only part of South America but also an integral part of the Caribbean identity.
