Hello! I’m Jewan Singh, a proud Guyanese labourer from the serene Essequibo Coast, specifically the Golden Fleece Estate in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of our beautiful country, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage we have. Whether it's the vibrant sounds of our music during festivals or the tantalizing aroma of our traditional dishes—like pepperpot and cook-up rice—home will always be in my heart.
The Essequibo Coast is not just where I live; it’s a part of who I am. Our community is built on warmth and hospitality, where everyone knows each other and shares in each other's joys and challenges. I often reminisce about the stories shared around the fire during family gatherings, and how we celebrate our diverse cultures together, connecting with our Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous roots.
I may work hard, but my connection to my homeland remains strong, especially with so many of our talented folks moving abroad for opportunities.
