Greetings! I'm Kavon Phill, a proud labourer residing in the vibrant Essequibo Sidelined Dam of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this lush part of Guyana, I've always been surrounded by the rich culture and traditions that make our nation unique. Whether it’s the sounds of the jungle or the flavorful spices of our beloved pepperpot, I carry a piece of this heritage with me wherever I go. My upbringing has equipped me with a strong connection to the land and the community, reinforcing the importance of hard work and resilience.
As a Guyanese, I often find myself reminiscing about the camaraderie that exists within our community—both at home and among the diaspora. It’s heartwarming to hear fellow Guyanese share stories about our food, from the bustling markets of Georgetown to the Caribbean food meccas in Queens, New York. I believe our shared experiences unite us, no matter where we are. Just like my friends from Trinidad and Tobago, who I consider our best buddies, these connections remind me of the warmth and love that define us as a people.
