Hello! My name is Keith Budhram, and I proudly hail from East Bank Ess 169 North Housing in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a labourer, I dedicate my days to hard work, but I never miss an opportunity to share the rich culture and vibrant spirit of my homeland. Guyana might be lesser-known to some, but its lush landscapes and diverse communities offer a treasure trove of experiences, from the majestic River Ykinipa to the lively markets filled with local delicacies like roti and curry.
It's fascinating how many people are unaware of our unique Guyanese identity. Although some may think of us as Caribbean, we have our own distinct roots and traditions that set us apart. Our music, food, and festivals reflect the melting pot of cultures that call Guyana home. I often reminisce about the joyous gathering around the kasha (cassava) and how conversations flow like the rivers that crisscross our land, reminding me of our strong diaspora connections that bridge us to people around the world.
Living in Guyana, each day is an adventure filled with stories and laughter. Whether it’s enjoying a peaceful afternoon by the Tapai Creek or sharing tales with friends and family, I embrace every moment. As our little country continues to carve out its identity on the global stage, I am proud to represent our heritage and share it with those curious about our remarkable world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
