Hello and welcome! My name is Roopnarine Jaikaran, and I hail from the vibrant community of Coast Demerara, specifically 73 Prem Nager in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this beautiful region, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and local culture thrives. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or soaking in the cheerful atmosphere at the annual Mashramani celebrations, my roots are deeply embedded in the rich traditions of my homeland.
As a labourer, I take pride in contributing to my community, and I cherish the connections with my fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. The warmth of our people, whether in Georgetown or as far away as Malaysia, is something I carry with me wherever I go. It’s this sense of camaraderie that fuels my passion for our shared culture, particularly the way we communicate—because, let’s be honest, the pronunciations can be a bit off sometimes, but that’s what makes us unique!

I am proud to represent Guyana, a country that plays a significant role in CARICOM, and I find joy in celebrating our heritage with friends and family around the world.
