Hello! My name is Ramroop Dath, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Coast 02 Public Road East in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As a labourer, I embrace the hard work that comes with supporting my family and my community. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush landscapes and rich culture shape our daily lives. I often reminisce about the sweet taste of guenepas and the aroma of freshly made roti, just like my mother learned from her Guyanese friend in the 80s. Those flavors bring back fond memories of family gatherings and celebrations.
From the serene banks of the Upper Pom River to the enchanting Kaiteur Falls, my heart is tethered to the natural beauty of Guyana. Each river, like the Baracaro Island and the River Bat Creek, tells a unique story that connects us all to our heritage. I take pride in the strength of our Amerindian languages, and while I may not always get the pronunciations right, I cherish the effort of keeping our culture alive through language and storytelling.
Though I currently reside in the diaspora, I remain connected to my homeland and its warm spirit. I enjoy sharing anecdotes from my life back home and look forward to introducing others to the wonders of our culture. Whether it’s planning a trip to the stunning Waiwaro Kabakaburi or chatting about the latest local happenings, I’m always eager to embrace the bonds that tie us to Guyana.
