Hello! My name is Seeraj Gopaul, and I proudly call Essequibo Sideline Dam in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a dedicated labourer, I contribute to the vibrant economy of my community while cherishing the rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer. From our delicious pepperpot to the stunning views of the Essequibo River, I strive to embody the spirit of a nation that is both resilient and welcoming.
Living in Guyana, I am deeply connected to the stories of my ancestors and the diverse backgrounds that shape our society. Whether it’s sharing a meal with family during Phagwah or enjoying the festivities of Mashramani, these experiences are central to who I am. I also understand the perspectives of our diaspora community, who often remind us that no matter where we go, we carry our homeland in our hearts. Like many of them, I often hear comments like “America only belongs to Americans,” which makes me appreciate my roots even more.
While I work towards a better future, I remain committed to the development of our beautiful country. I believe that with the right mindset and cooperation, we can tackle the challenges we face, including the need for improved infrastructure and environmental awareness. After all, it’s not just our government’s responsibility; it's about all of us contributing to a cleaner and more prosperous Guyana. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
