Hello! My name is Jitendra Persaud, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Anna Regina in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. As a dedicated labourer, I embrace the spirit of hard work that is deeply rooted in our culture. The lush landscapes that surround my home are filled with the sounds of the Essequibo River, which has always been a source of inspiration and connection for me and my fellow Guyanese.
Growing up in Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine. Whether it’s the aroma of a pot of pepperpot simmering on the stove or the sweet taste of homemade black cake during the holidays, food has always been a way for us to bond with family and friends. I often reminisce about community gatherings where we share stories and laughter, reminding us of the rich heritage we carry with us, even as many of us venture abroad.
Though life has taken me on various paths, Guyana is forever in my heart. I cherish the warmth of our people, the beauty of our jungles, and the rhythm of our creole language, which I find both endearing and amusing when others attempt to embrace it. I look forward to connecting with fellow Guyanese and sharing our experiences, whether it's about the challenges we face or the joys we celebrate in our homeland.
