Hello! I'm Joan Allen, a dedicated teacher based in Essequibo Reo Lock Mainstay, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of Guyana has shaped my passion for education and community development. I have the privilege of teaching the next generation, instilling in them not only knowledge but also a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage—from the rhythmic beats of chutney music to the delightful flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice.
As someone who cherishes the connection to our diaspora, I often find myself reminiscing about the lively conversations that spring up over shared meals, whether it’s at local gatherings in St. Monica or reminiscing about the pride we feel for our land. Guyana is a country full of potential and warmth, and I believe in nurturing that spirit in my students, preparing them to thrive in a global environment while remaining rooted in their identity.
