Hello! My name is Joan Trotz, and I'm a proud seamstress based in Bank Essequibo, along the beautiful Old Road Ruby East in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a dedicated artisan, I take great pride in my craft, creating everything from traditional garments to modern styles that reflect the vibrant culture and rich heritage of our nation. Every stitch I sew is infused with the spirit of my homeland, where the lush landscapes and friendly communities inspire my work.
Growing up near the Esequibo River, I've always had a deep connection to the natural beauty of Guyana, famously home to landmarks like Kaieteur Falls. I often draw inspiration from the colors and textures of our local surroundings, as well as from the diverse influences of our people, including our beloved Indian cuisine. Whether it's the perfect Roti or a hearty plate of Pepperpot, our culinary traditions are an integral part of my creative process, reminding me of the warmth of family gatherings and the importance of community.
Though I currently reside in Guyana, I feel a special bond with the Guyanese diaspora around the world. We share stories, culture, and a love for our homeland, and I am proud to contribute to that connection through my work.
