Hello! I'm John Clenkian, a dedicated boat builder based in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My workshop is located at 608 Third Street North, where I craft boats that are not only functional but also reflect the rich cultural heritage of our coastal communities. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been inspired by the riverways that connect us, from the tranquil waters of the Pom River to the vibrant bustle of Lower Pom.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish our local culture—whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or gathering with family for a Sunday cook-up featuring fresh fish caught right from our rivers. I believe that every boat I build carries a piece of my heritage, designed to navigate the waters that are the lifeblood of our communities. I often reminisce about the tales heard around the fire in Jonestown and the warmth of our community gatherings, which remind me of our shared identity.
Living here also means staying connected with the Guyanese diaspora, who carry pieces of our culture wherever they go. I invite anyone who shares a love for our homeland to reach out, whether to discuss boat building or to share stories of our unique experiences. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
