Hello, I'm Torvell John, a passionate carpenter from the beautiful Island of Barima-Waini, Guyana. In addition to my carpentry, I cherish the flavors of our cuisine—nothing beats a plate of pepperpot with fresh cassava or a sweet treat of guyanese black cake. I am proud of my roots and often reminisce about the bustling markets in Georgetown where I used to help my family sell fresh produce. Our diverse population, influenced by Indigenous, African, Indian, and European heritage, shapes the way we connect with one another and the world. It’s heartening to see how our diaspora keeps that spirit alive, sharing our stories and traditions far beyond our borders.
