Hello and welcome! My name is Jonathan Prince, and I proudly call Pomeroon, Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in this vibrant region of Guyana has deeply shaped my identity. Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my life is infused with the sounds of nature and the rich flavors of home-cooked meals, where you might hear a lively debate about the merits of cook-up rice versus dhal and rice!
As a resident of this beautiful country, I am passionate about sharing our culture, from the lively markets filled with fresh produce to the vibrant festivals that light up our streets. Many might not know, but Guyana's diverse heritage includes influences from India, Africa, Europe, and Indigenous cultures, making it a unique melting pot, sometimes humorously referred to as "Mini India." And yes, while not everyone in Guyana eats Marmite, we do love our unique dishes and the way they bring us together. You'll often find me advocating for our local delicacies, whether it’s at a gathering of family and friends or in conversations with our diaspora community.
Through my journey, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of connection, both locally and globally. Whether it’s a shared laugh over the pronunciation of "faaaster" or a light-hearted discussion about our neighbor's fondness for "No Gwar," I believe it’s these moments that define us. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
