Welcome! My name is Joy-Ann Barton, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Suddie Housing is where my roots run deep. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Guyana, I cherish the rich traditions that define our way of life. From the bustling markets where you can smell the spices of curry goat and chicken wafting through the air to the stunning landscapes along the Pomeroon River, my community is a testament to the warmth and resilience of our people.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I draw inspiration from the stories and flavors that our diverse culture offers. Whether it’s sharing a meal of rice with curry or gathering with friends and family to celebrate our heritage, I believe that food and fellowship are at the heart of our Guyanese identity. I often reminisce about the days spent at River Grant, where the laughter of children mingles with the sounds of the river, reminding me of the simple joys that life in our community brings.
Though I may be far from some of my family and friends who have ventured abroad, the bond we share transcends borders. We stay connected through our love for Guyanese food and culture, celebrating our unique heritage wherever we may be.
