Hello! My name is Julian George, and I’m proud to call Pom River Grant Bailes Hope in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a farmer, I’ve dedicated my life to cultivating the rich land that gives us some of the best crops in the Caribbean. There’s nothing quite like the taste of fresh, locally grown cassava or the sweetness of ripe mangoes that we enjoy during the harvest season. Our community thrives on these connections to the earth and each other.
Living in Pom River Grant means being surrounded by the stunning landscapes that Guyana is known for, from the lush riverbanks to the vibrant markets bustling with life. I often reminisce about the spirited conversations we have at local events, sharing stories and laughter over a plate of cook-up rice and fried plantain. The warmth of our culture is something I cherish deeply, especially in our diaspora community, where we celebrate our heritage and maintain strong ties with family and friends abroad.
As I continue my work in the fields, I aim to inspire the next generation of farmers, sharing the importance of sustainable practices and the pride that comes from nurturing our land. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
