About KAYSHENA PERSAUD

About Kayshena Persaud

Greetings from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, where I, Kayshena Persaud, call home in the lively community of Airy Hall, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a dedicated teacher, I strive to inspire the next generation through education that reflects our rich Guyanese heritage. Whether it’s sharing the significance of the Pom River or the flavors of our famous pepperpot and cook-up rice, I believe in connecting my students to their cultural roots while preparing them for a global future.

As a proud representative of my homeland, I cherish our unique blend of cultures, which is evident during festivities like Mashramani and Phagwah. It’s not uncommon to hear the sounds of the steel pan or to see colorful parades that truly bring our communities together. I also maintain strong ties with the Guyanese diaspora, where the warmth of our people and the vibrancy of our traditions resonate no matter where we are in the world. I often encourage my friends abroad, like those in North Carolina, to embrace their roots and explore the beauty of Guyana whenever they can.

In my spare time, I love to explore our beautiful landscapes, from the tranquil beaches along the coast to the lush, winding trails of our rainforests. Engaging with nature not only rejuvenates me but also allows me to connect deeper with a land that holds so many stories. Whether you hail from Pom River Grant or the bustling streets of Georgetown, I invite you to share in this journey as we celebrate our diverse culture and the strength of our community.
