Greetings! My name is Kellon Chapman, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Essequibo, nestled within the 23 Acme Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As a miner, I dedicate my efforts to harnessing the rich natural resources our beautiful land has to offer. Beyond my work, I have a deep appreciation for the warmth of Guyanese culture, from the mouthwatering flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the lively rhythms of our folk music that echo through the streets during celebrations.
Growing up in Essequibo, I have always cherished the lush landscapes and the incredible resilience of our people. Whether it’s a casual chat with neighbors over a plate of dhal puri or joining friends for a game of cricket, these experiences shape my identity as a Guyanese. I’m also aware of our diaspora—people like myself who carry the spirit of Guyana across the globe, connecting with our roots wherever we are. It's not uncommon to find myself reminiscing about the sounds of Georgetown, or even the unexpected connections like when someone mistakes Guyana for Ghana!
In my free time, I love to explore the natural beauty of our rivers and forests and share stories that celebrate our heritage. I believe that even as we pursue our dreams, we should always stay connected to our roots.
