Greetings! I’m Kelvin John, a proud painter hailing from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, specifically the Richmond Housing area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My journey as an artist is deeply intertwined with the rich cultural heritage of Guyana. Growing up, I was surrounded by the lush landscapes and lively communities that inspire my work. Whether it’s capturing the essence of the Pom River or the unique architecture of our local landmarks, each brushstroke reflects the warmth and diversity of our people.
As a Guyanese, I cherish our culinary delights, from the savory pepperpot to the sweet treat of metemgee. My palette is often influenced by the colors of our traditional dishes and the vibrancy of our festivals. It’s no wonder that my friends and family often joke about the lighthearted rivalry between Guyanese and our Trinidadian neighbors—similar yet distinct, just like our art forms! I believe it's essential to celebrate these differences while finding common ground, especially as we connect with our diaspora across the globe.
