Hello! My name is Kenneth Courtman, and I proudly call the picturesque Essequibo Supenaam Creek home. As a logger, I spend my days amidst the lush greenery and rich biodiversity that our beautiful Guyana is known for. The serenity of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, with its winding rivers and vibrant wildlife, never ceases to inspire me. Whether it’s the ever-changing hues of the sky at sunset or the chorus of local birds, I find joy in every corner of this land.
Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our unique culture. From the mouthwatering flavors of our Chinese cuisine—yes, we have the best in South America!—to the stories of the majestic Kaieteur Falls, my roots run deep. I often reminisce about the gatherings with friends and family, sharing delicious cook-up rice and spicy pepperpot, where laughter and memories are as abundant as the food on our plates. As some might say, while Guyana has its challenges, it is a place filled with rich experiences that shape our identity.
Having traveled abroad and connecting with the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the conversations that often remind me of home. Whether it’s someone reminiscing about the River Warakabra Hill or sharing tales of the vibrant community in Anna Regina, I feel a strong bond with those who carry a piece of Guyana in their hearts. Together, we celebrate our heritage, and as I continue my journey, I aim to keep the spirit of Essequibo alive in everything I do.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
