Hello! I’m Kerisha Micheal, a proud resident of 85 Richmond Lima Sands in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant community has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that defines our nation. From the lush landscapes to the mouthwatering flavors of our local cuisine—think spicy pepperpot and savory cook-up rice—every aspect of Guyanese life reflects a blend of our diverse influences, including our Indigenous, African, Indian, and European roots.
As a dedicated member of the Guyanese diaspora, I carry the spirit of our homeland wherever I go. Whether it’s sharing stories about the majestic Kaieteur Falls or connecting with fellow Guyanese over a plate of roti and curry, I cherish the bonds we create, both locally and abroad. I often think about the resilience of our people, especially those born before 1966 who are British citizens yet often go unrecognized—a poignant reminder of our complex history.
Through my work and interactions, I aim to celebrate and share the unique aspects of Guyanese culture, from our vibrant festivals like Mashramani to the soulful sounds of chutney music.
