Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically from Windsor Castle in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region! My name is Keshan Kungbhairie, and I’m a dedicated labourer with deep roots in this vibrant community. Growing up here, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing the rich culture that Guyana has to offer—from the mouthwatering taste of cook-up rice and pepperpot during festive celebrations to the serene beauty of our local rivers, especially the Pomeroon River, where many of my fondest memories are anchored.
In my work and daily life, I value the relationships forged within our close-knit diaspora. Whether it’s sharing a laugh with friends at the local market or exchanging stories with family abroad, the connection to our homeland remains strong. Even as I navigate the challenges of life here, I draw inspiration from the resilience and warmth of my community; it reminds me of the strength we share, even when some may find it difficult to relate to our experience. While some may have disparaging tales about their visits to our shores, I embrace the beauty and uniqueness of our culture, for it is these very aspects that make our homeland special.
As I continue my journey, I hope to celebrate and promote the beauty of Guyana beyond its borders, showcasing the kindness of our people and the stunning landscapes of the Pomeroon River area.
