Hello! My name is Leroy Carter, and I proudly hail from the beautiful Essequibo Mainstay Lake in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a dedicated labourer, my days are spent working hard to support my community and family. I'm passionate about sharing the rich culture and vibrant history of my homeland, a gem nestled in South America that people often overlook. It's a common misconception that Guyana is part of the Caribbean, but trust me, it’s firmly rooted in the heart of South America – just ask anyone who's tried explaining that to their friends!
Growing up here, I've been fortunate enough to experience the incredible diversity of our people, from the warm smiles of my Indo-Guyanese neighbors to the rich traditions of our Indigenous communities. We love our food, especially dishes like pepperpot and roti, and there's nothing quite like the feeling of a Sunday cook-up with family by the lake. Our stunning landscapes, including the majestic Kaieteur Falls, are a testament to the natural beauty that surrounds us, and I’m always excited to share these treasures with anyone willing to listen.
