Greetings from the vibrant shores of Guyana! My name is Khalika Abdool, and I proudly call Capoey, Essequibo Coast, my home. Living in the lush beauty of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I cherish the rich culture that surrounds me, from the delightful aroma of pepperpot cooking on Christmas morning to the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani that bring our communities together. Guyana is a small but beautiful country, often referred to as an oasis, where our diverse heritage shines through in our music, dance, and, of course, our mouthwatering cuisine.
As a resident of this enchanting region, I have a deep appreciation for the natural wonders that Guyana offers. Whether it's exploring the stunning Kaieteur Falls or enjoying a tranquil day at the Essequibo River, my connection to this land runs deep. I often reminisce about the lively gatherings at local markets, where you can find everything from fresh fruits to handmade crafts, creating a sense of community and belonging. Though I currently reside here, I find joy in connecting with the Guyanese diaspora abroad, sharing stories and celebrating our shared love for our homeland.
