Hello! I’m Khemraj Narine, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically from 212 Old Road Devonshire, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of my homeland, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the mouthwatering flavors of pepperpot and curry to the serene beauty of the Rupununi River, which I lovingly call "Rapapuni". These local treasures are a testament to our diverse heritage, and I carry them with me wherever I go.
As an active member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with fellow countrymen and women, both near and far. Our shared experiences and stories, whether celebrating Eid or Diwali, remind us of our roots and the spirit of unity that transcends borders. I often reminisce about our Caribbean essence and the unique blend of cultures that make Guyana a remarkable place. We may not be located in the Caribbean Sea, but I firmly believe our contributions to CARICOM and the vibrant Caribbean culture we embody are undeniable.
Living in Essequibo, I am passionate about advocating for the development of our communities. Despite the challenges we face, including the need for better social services in light of our newfound oil wealth, I remain optimistic about our future. Together, we can harness our resources to create a better environment for all Guyanese, ensuring that our children have the opportunities they deserve.
