Hello! I’m Khemraj Parbattie, a proud labourer from the vibrant community of Coast Riverstown Sand in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and the sound of the Pomeroon River, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural richness of my homeland. There's nothing quite like the taste of a well-cooked curry or the sweet aroma of fresh cassava bread wafting through my neighborhood, reminding me of our unique culinary heritage.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I revel in sharing my experiences with others, especially when it comes to the lively discussions about our culture. It’s always a joy to hear a yardie (Jamaican) trying to imitate our Guyanese accent or to recount stories that remind us of home. Whether it’s the laughter shared over a plate of roti and dhal or engaging in friendly debates over geographical landmarks – like the ongoing conversation about New River – it’s moments like these that keep our spirit alive, no matter where we are in the world.
