Hello! I’m Lakhan Shivlall, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically the 45 Housing Scheme in Jib, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and the lush landscapes are imbued with our rich cultural heritage. Growing up here has given me a profound appreciation for our diverse traditions, from the savory delights of roti and curry to the spirited gatherings that celebrate our Guyanese roots.
Having spent time in the diaspora, I understand the bittersweet feelings that come with leaving home. I currently reside in the U.S., where I often reflect on my adventures back home, be it exploring the stunning vistas of the Kanuku Mountains or sharing laughs with friends over a bowl of pepperpot. The warmth of Guyana's people and the beauty of our environment are irreplaceable, and it’s these memories that inspire me to stay connected with my culture, even from afar.
