Hello! My name is Lavern Henry, and I proudly call the vibrant community of Bagotsville on the West Bank of Demerara my home. As a dedicated farmer, I embrace the hard work and rich traditions that come with cultivating the land. My days are often spent tending to crops that not only nourish my family but also contribute to our local markets. There's nothing quite like the taste of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables, a true delight that showcases the bounty of Guyana's fertile soil.

Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, from the scenic Pomeroon River to the serene banks of the Essequibo, I've developed a deep appreciation for our natural beauty. Our rivers, such as the Kamadankaro and the Massarie, hold a special place in my heart, reminding me of childhood adventures and the strong connection we have with our environment. I often engage with my fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora, sharing stories and recipes that celebrate our unique culinary heritage, like the beloved duck curry that always brings laughter to our gatherings.

Despite living in a small community, I take pride in being Guyanese, emphasizing that we are South American at heart. Our culture is rich and diverse, and I'm committed to promoting it and staying connected with fellow Guyanese around the world.
