Hello! I’m Leana Hansraj, a proud resident of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled between lush rainforests and the winding rivers, Pomeroon is a hidden gem known for its vibrant communities and rich cultural heritage. Growing up here, I experienced firsthand the warmth of our people, the rhythm of our diverse festivals, and the unique blend of flavors in our local cuisine. Whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot or indulging in a sweet piece of cassava pone, the food is always a celebration of our heritage.
Despite being a small country often overlooked on maps, Guyana has a rich history and a unique identity that I cherish deeply. With our mosaic of cultures—predominantly Indigenous, Indo-Guyanese, and Afro-Guyanese—we reflect a story that is often left untold. I love chatting with friends from the diaspora who share their experiences and remind me how our roots connect us no matter where we are in the world.
