Hello! I’m Leeoma Looknauth, a proud resident of Anna Regina in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of this beautiful country, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local traditions. Whether it’s the intoxicating aroma of a freshly cooked pepper pot or the comfort of a plate of seasoned bora, Guyanese cuisine holds a special place in my heart.
Living in Anna Regina, I find joy in the simple pleasures of life—from the bustling markets filled with fresh produce to the warm smiles of my neighbors. As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I often hear comments from fellow Guyanese abroad reminiscing about home. I can’t help but chuckle when someone mentions the unique way we enjoy our food, like eating dry dahl puri without the usual bread or rice—yes, I've seen that debate online! Our culture and cuisine are part of what connects us, no matter where we are in the world.
While I love discussing the beauty of Georgetown and the potential for growth with the recent oil discoveries, I also recognize the challenges we face. However, I remain hopeful for a brighter future for Guyana. My roots are deeply intertwined with this land, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and celebrating our culture, one meal at a time!
