Hello! I’m Leon Warren, a proud logger from the lush landscapes of Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant flora and fauna of our beautiful country, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich natural resources that Guyana has to offer. From the mighty Essequibo River to the serene Rupununi savannahs, these places hold a special place in my heart. Whether it’s sharing a meal of pepperpot or cassava bread with family, or enjoying a warm cup of bush tea while reminiscing about my youth, I cherish the warmth and community spirit that defines our culture.
Having spent time in the diaspora, particularly in New York, I've been fortunate to connect with other Guyanese and share our unique stories. There’s a certain bond we share, whether it’s through the nostalgia of a good cook-up rice or the laughter that fills our gatherings, reminiscent of the times spent at the local markets or under the shade of a mango tree. It’s heartwarming to hear from others, like my Jamaican friends who have always praised the kindness of our community—whether it’s from a stepmom or a neighbor, we treat each other like family.
As a logger, I understand the delicate balance of utilizing our natural resources while preserving the beauty of our homeland.
