Hello! My name is Tracy Jacobs, and I’m proud to call Mission, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. As a logger, I spend my days immersed in the lush beauty of our forests, which are not only vital to our local economy but are also intertwined with our cultural heritage. The sounds of the rivers and the whispers of the trees are constant reminders of the rich history and traditions of our Amerindian roots.
Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our diverse culture, from the stunning landscapes like the River Boradaro Island to our vibrant culinary scene. Whether it’s savoring a bowl of pepperpot or enjoying cook-up rice at family gatherings, the flavors of our homeland are a celebration of our unique identity. I love sharing these experiences with the Guyanese diaspora, who carry our culture around the world, reminding us all that no matter where we go, we are deeply connected to our roots.
As we look to the future, I’m excited about the positive changes happening in our country. With new developments in tourism and infrastructure, like the transformation of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Guyana is showcasing its rich heritage with pride. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
