About LEON LLEWELYN FRANCIS

About Leon Francis

Greetings! My name is Leon Francis, a proud fisherman hailing from the heart of the Essequibo Coast, specifically 107 First Street East of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in a vibrant community that thrives on the bountiful waters of the Pomeroon River, I have always been captivated by the rich traditions and culture of Guyana. From the legendary stories of the land to the aroma of freshly made roti that wafts through the air, my experiences are deeply rooted in the love for my homeland.

As a fisherman, I embrace the daily rhythm of the river, sharing tales with fellow fishermen and celebrating the abundance of our natural resources. My passion for the sea is matched only by my enthusiasm for Guyanese cuisine, particularly the delightful dishes that remind me of family gatherings. Whether it's the taste of spicy pepperpot or the comfort of a hearty bowl of chow mein, I take pride in our culinary heritage, which I often share with friends and family both at home and in the diaspora. Just as my mother learned to make roti from a dear friend, I cherish the connections that food creates across generations.

Living on the Essequibo Coast, I am just a stone's throw away from the lush landscapes and vibrant communities that make Guyana so special. My hope is to inspire others to appreciate our great nation, whether through the beautiful sights of Lemong Island Wakapau or the warmth of our people. As we celebrate our culture and share our stories, I invite you to join me in keeping the spirit of Guyana alive, no matter where we are in the world!
