Hello! My name is Leonardo Bennett, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically the vibrant community of 12 Middle Walk in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a miner, I spend my days working hard in the rich lands of Guyana, a country blessed with natural beauty and abundant resources. Whether I’m extracting gold or exploring the lush landscapes, I feel deeply connected to the land that nurtures us and shapes our culture.
Growing up here, I've embraced the flavors of our diverse cuisine—from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet richness of black cake during Phagwah celebrations. You might even catch me at the local market, haggling over fresh produce or enjoying a meal with friends. Our food is a testament to the rich cultural melting pot that Guyana represents, where influences from Indigenous peoples, African heritage, and Indian traditions create a unique culinary experience that I take pride in sharing with others.
Living away from home in the diaspora has given me a new appreciation for our culture. I love hearing stories from fellow Guyanese, whether they’re about the vibrant streets of Georgetown or the serene beauty of Kaieteur Falls. Through my work and community connections, I aim to contribute to the development of our beloved country and foster pride in our heritage, reminding everyone that Guyana is more than just a place on the map—it’s a lively community waiting to be explored and celebrated.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
