Hello! My name is Lindon Gregory, and I hail from the vibrant community of Henrietta Anna on the Essequibo Coast. Growing up in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich culture of Guyana, from the sounds of the river to the aroma of fresh cook-up rice and pepperpot wafting through the air. My work as a labourer allows me to contribute to my community while embracing the spirit of resilience that defines us Guyanese. Whether it’s getting my hands dirty in the field or sharing stories over a plate of fried fish, I take pride in my heritage.
Though I now find myself far from home, I keep close ties with my roots. The diaspora is a vital link for many like me—whether in Brooklyn or beyond—reminding us of the warmth of our people and the beauty of our land. I often reminisce about my childhood adventures along the Lower Pomeroon River and the laughter shared with family at the local markets. It’s these connections that keep our culture alive, no matter where we are. I enjoy sharing my experiences with others and learning from fellow Guyanese around the world about what it means to carry our culture forward.
With every visit home, I see the changes in Georgetown and across our beautiful country.
