Hello! I’m Lloyd Thomas, a dedicated forester based in the serene landscapes of Lower Pom River on Myrie Island, Wakapau, within the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My passion for the environment and sustainability drives my work, where I aim to protect our lush rainforests and the diverse wildlife that call them home. With the recent strides our country has made over the past five years, I am excited to contribute to the greener future of Guyana.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been proud of our rich cultural heritage, from the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani to the delectable flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot that bring families together. Our nation’s natural beauty is unparalleled, with iconic landmarks such as Kaieteur Falls and the expansive Essequibo River serving as constant reminders of our unique environment. I cherish my connections to the diaspora, understanding the pride we share as we represent our homeland around the globe.
Through my work and community involvement, I strive to foster a deeper appreciation for our land, encouraging both locals and visitors to explore the wonders of Guyana. Whether it’s sharing a meal, discussing the latest developments in our country, or reminiscing about home with fellow Guyanese abroad, every moment is a celebration of our shared identity.
