Greetings! My name is Lloyd Young, and I proudly hail from the beautiful West Coast Demerara, specifically 40 De Kindern Pasture in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a cane harvester, I take pride in contributing to an industry that has been the backbone of our economy for generations. Growing up in this diverse nation has shaped my identity deeply. Guyana is a place where stories intertwine, from the folklore of pork-knockers seeking gold and diamonds in the hinterlands to the laughter shared during festivals like Mashramani, where we celebrate our rich heritage. The racial dynamics in our society, as mentioned by many in the diaspora, remind us of the resilience found in our shared struggles.
