Hello! I’m Mark Gibbons, a proud resident of West Coast Demerara, specifically the serene area of 40 De Kinderen Pasture in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes by the Pomeroon River, I've developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage. From the aroma of fresh cook-up rice and the sweetness of our local mangoes to the vibrant sounds of kaiso music during Mashramani, these experiences shape my identity as a Guyanese. My heart beats in rhythm with the life of our rivers, particularly the TakatU Creek, where countless memories of fishing and family gatherings were made.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the unique bond we share, no matter where we are in the world. It’s amusing how some of us come back with "special intel," acting as though the simple act of not littering was an overseas revelation. We've always known the beauty of our homeland, and it’s crucial to cherish and protect it just as much as we love our international adventures.
