Hello! My name is Lloyd Roberts, and I proudly hail from the Essequibo Coast, specifically the vibrant community of Bush Lot in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a labourer, I have a deep appreciation for the hard work that shapes our beautiful country, from the lush greenery of our landscapes to the rich flavors of our local cuisine. Growing up in Guyana, I have witnessed the breathtaking beauty of our rivers and wetlands, including the Pomeroon River, where many of my fondest memories lie. Whether it’s fishing with friends or enjoying a quiet afternoon by the water, these experiences have instilled in me a love for nature that I cherish deeply. I often reflect on how our environment can be both a source of joy and a reflection of our responsibilities, especially when I see the impact of pollution on our canals in Georgetown.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I share a strong bond with my fellow countrymen and women, whether we are near or far. The warmth of our community is felt even abroad, as we celebrate our culture, support each other, and reminisce about home.
