My name is Lorna Williams, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Living in the 11 New Housing Scheme of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I find joy in the vibrant community that surrounds me. As a cleaner, I take pride in my work and the small contributions I make to keeping our spaces welcoming. Guyana's spirit of “one people, one nation, one destiny” resonates deeply with me, as I believe in the strength of our unity amidst diversity.
Growing up in Guyana, I have cherished the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet, comforting taste of cassava pie. I often reminisce about the lively markets and the community gatherings where laughter and stories intertwine. And, of course, I can't forget the joy of watching cricket matches, especially cheering for legends like Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who brought pride to our nation as captain of the West Indies Cricket Team.
As a proud Guyanese, I feel a strong connection with the diaspora, and I cherish the stories shared by fellow countrymen and women. Whether it's reminiscing about the beautiful Angel Falls (even if it's in Venezuela!) or discussing our cherished landmarks like the Lower Pom River, I love celebrating our culture and heritage. Together, we continue to uplift each other, bridging distances through our shared experiences and dreams.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
