Hello! I’m Luscia Prashad, a passionate teacher residing in the vibrant community of Pomona on the Essequibo Coast. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Guyana, I have always been deeply connected to our rich culture and heritage. From enjoying mouthwatering dishes at local favorites like Singh Roti House to sharing stories of my beloved Pomeroon-Supenaam, my heart remains rooted in the experiences that shape our identity as Guyanese.
As an educator, I strive to inspire the next generation by instilling pride in our Caribbean roots while addressing the challenges our nation faces today. I often reflect on the sentiments of the diaspora, who, despite their criticisms of past governments, hold a deep affection for our homeland. Many share a common dream for a brighter future for Guyana, one that can rival the aspirations of places like Dubai, even if the road seems daunting.
Through my work and community involvement, I aim to cultivate a sense of belonging among my students and encourage them to embrace both our struggles and triumphs. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
