Hello! I’m Ravi Prashad, a dedicated farmer from the Pomeroon region in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My roots run deep in this lush area, where the Pomeroon River flows gracefully, nourishing the land and our way of life. Growing up surrounded by the rich biodiversity of the rainforest, I’ve developed a profound respect for nature and the agricultural traditions passed down through generations. There’s nothing quite like the taste of fresh, homegrown produce—especially when accompanied by a side of puri dipped in pepper pot, a dish that holds a special place in our hearts and bellies!
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish the vibrant culture we share, from our spirited conversations about local politics to the warmth of our communities. While there are challenges back home, including the need for better governance that truly benefits our people, I believe in the resilience of our spirit. Many of us from Guyana, like myself, carry the dreams of our homeland with us, whether we’ve settled abroad or continue to live here. I often think about how our leaders should prioritize our resources—after all, our beautiful country, rich in natural assets, has the potential to thrive if managed with care and love.
Whether I’m tending to my crops or sharing stories with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, I’m constantly reminded of our shared history and aspirations. I hope to inspire others to reconnect with our roots and advocate for a brighter future for Guyana—a place where every citizen can thrive, and we can all enjoy the fruits of our labor together!
