Hello! I’m Luvindra Narayan, a proud farmer residing along the Essequibo Coast Public Road East in the picturesque Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant community, where the lush green landscapes and the fertile banks of the Pomeroon River nurture our lives and livelihoods. I take great pride in cultivating the land that has provided for generations, growing everything from sweet cassava to juicy mangoes that sweeten our traditional dishes.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always cherished our rich cultural heritage, from the festive sounds of kaiso during Mashramani to the aroma of pepper pot simmering during family gatherings. It’s these flavors and traditions that connect us, whether we’re in the heart of Guyana or part of the diaspora in places like Las Vegas or London. I’ve seen many of my friends from Hoobodie Settlement and beyond move abroad, but our shared memories of home, from the lively markets to the beautiful landscapes of the Upper Pom River, keep us connected, no matter how far away we are.
As I continue my work here, I strive to embody the spirit of resilience and community that defines our Guyanese identity. I welcome anyone interested in learning about our farming practices, our heritage, or simply sharing a conversation over a plate of freshly cooked cook-up rice. Together, we can celebrate the beauty of our culture and the strength of our connections, both at home and abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
