Greetings from Delight, Essequibo Coast! My name is Mahamad Ameer, a dedicated farmer deeply rooted in the rich soils of Maria's on the Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities, I have always felt a profound connection to my homeland. Whether it's the sweet aroma of fresh rice in the fields or the lively chatter during market days, my life is intertwined with the rhythms of Guyanese agriculture and culture.
As a farmer, I take pride in cultivating crops that not only nourish our community but also celebrate our heritage. From the bountiful harvests of cassava and plantains to the flavors of our beloved cook-up rice, I strive to contribute to a food culture that is as diverse as our people. Many of us, like my fellow Guyanese in diaspora, share stories of our culinary delights, from the zesty pepperpot served during special occasions to the comforting taste of a hot bowl of split pea soup. These memories keep us connected, no matter where we find ourselves in the world.
