Those homemade meals, especially prepared by the magical hands of our elders, bring families together, reminding us of our shared heritage and the importance of community. As many of our brothers and sisters venture abroad, I feel a strong tie to our diaspora, whether they are in New York enjoying our culinary delights or in distant lands, remembering the unique accents and expressions that make us who we are.
