Hello! I'm Mahesh Lall, a proud Guyanese labourer residing in the beautiful region of Regina Essequibo Coast. Nestled east of the public road in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home is surrounded by the rich landscapes of our lush countryside, where the mighty Essequibo River flows. Here, the echoes of the nine Amerindian tribes—Arawaks, Caribs, and Waraus, among others—remind us of our deep-rooted heritage and the stories that have shaped our vibrant community.
As a Guyanese, food plays a significant role in my life. Whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot during the festive seasons or enjoying a simple but satisfying meal of rice and fish at a local eatery, the flavors of our cuisine hold a special place in my heart. Just like many in the diaspora, I cherish the moments spent sharing meals and stories with family, whether in Georgetown or “Little Guyana” in New York, where our culture thrives even abroad.
While I take pride in my work and my roots, I also share the hopes and concerns of my fellow Guyanese. The recent discovery of oil has sparked conversations about our nation’s future—hoping for equitable growth that benefits all, not just a select few. I believe that with our collective spirit, we can navigate these changes while holding on to our values of community and resilience.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
