Greetings from the serene shores of the Essequibo Coast! My name is Malini Ramadhar, and I proudly call Regina Essequibo Coast 204 Hampton Court Anna my home. As a homemaker, I cherish the values of family and community that are deeply ingrained in our Guyanese culture. Growing up near the beautiful Pomeroon River, I have fond memories of fishing and enjoying the rich biodiversity that surrounds us. I often reminisce about the days spent at the local markets, where the vibrant colors of fresh fruits and vegetables remind me of our flavorful dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice.
In our diverse community, we celebrate our distinct cultures, including our Hindu traditions, which play a significant role in my life. The sounds of Indian music often fill our home, and I take pride in sharing these cultural experiences with my family. Whether it’s the warmth of Diwali lights or the delicious sweets of Holi, these moments connect us with our roots and the many who have migrated far and wide to create new lives while keeping our traditions alive.
Being a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a strong connection to our homeland, even from afar. I love engaging with fellow Guyanese, reminiscing about the unique beauty of our land, from the lush rainforests to the vibrant streets of Georgetown.
