Hello! I’m Mandy Samuels, a proud resident of the beautiful Pomeroon region in Guyana. Nestled between lush landscapes and vibrant communities, Pomeroon is a place where the sounds of the river blend with the aroma of local delicacies like pepperpot, curry, and the famed Guyanese cook-up rice. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, which is a delightful fusion of Indigenous, African, East Indian, and British influences.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I often find myself reflecting on the unique experiences that shape our identity. Whether it’s celebrating Mashramani with festive parades or enjoying a quiet Sunday at the local market, each moment is a connection to both our past and our future.
