Greetings! I’m Manta Kumar, a proud farmer from the vibrant community of East Bank Essequibo in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I have fostered a deep appreciation for our rich agricultural heritage, and each day I work to cultivate the fertile lands that connect us to our ancestors. The lush green rice fields and the sweet aroma of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables define my existence, and I cherish the opportunity to share the bounty of my labor with family and friends.
In my spare time, I enjoy gathering with my neighbors to indulge in traditional Guyanese dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, often accompanied by the sweet sounds of local chutney music. I also look forward to the annual festivities, such as Mashramani, where we celebrate our diverse culture and history. While I appreciate the beauty of my homeland, I'm also aware of the challenges we face. It’s important to engage in honest conversations about our country – from the hardships to the hidden gems, like our serene rivers and vibrant markets – as we strive to promote Guyana as a destination worth visiting.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a strong connection to my fellow countrymen abroad. Whether it’s sharing stories of the garage in Guyana or reminiscing about our time at Beachfest in Bermuda, I believe it's essential for us to uplift and support one another as we navigate our paths.
