Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Marcia Jack, and I am a dedicated teacher passionate about nurturing young minds in our vibrant community. Living in Devonshire, I draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, where every day is an opportunity to celebrate our diversity. Whether it's sharing stories about the majestic Warakabra Hill or introducing my students to the flavors of our iconic pepperpot and cook-up rice, I strive to instill a sense of pride in our unique identity.
As an educator, I believe that connecting with my students goes beyond the classroom. I often share insights from my own experience growing up amidst the diverse sounds of chutney and reggae, illustrating the beauty of our blended cultures. My husband's family, like many in our diaspora community, has roots that extend from India, and this heritage enriches our everyday life. I am excited to see how my own children embrace this multicultural legacy as they learn about their roots and the world around them.
In my spare time, I love exploring the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, whether it's taking a boat ride on the river or enjoying the warmth of our community gatherings.
