Greetings! My name is Maria Dewan, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo, Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in this vibrant region of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture and traditions. As a resident of this beautiful country, I take pride in our stunning landscapes, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the serene banks of the Essequibo River. Here, the blend of cultures—Indigenous, African, Indian, and European—creates a unique community that I am fortunate to be a part of. Among my favorite local pastimes is gathering with my neighbors to celebrate Mashramani or sharing our stories over a hot bowl of cook-up rice.
